79: Meet Rachel: A highly experienced, transformational make-up artist...

Writer: ChopsChops

... And I can make that statement, because Rachel transformed me for my TWWork relaunch photoshoot back in October ('24). So I KNOW she's good.

Rachel got recommended to me by Lizzie, who was my photographer on the TWWork shoot. Lizzie knew the style of photoshoot I wanted, and she recommended Rachel to me, because she knew how flexible and adaptable Rachel's approach was. And Rachel didn't disappoint.

(I did, however, and I was dreadful on the day, too shy and too awkward to really make the most out of the look Rachel did for me, or the shots Lizzie took, but that's another matter and a separate conversation).

Listening to Rachel's story and hearing how she always loved make-up and she loved the transformations that could come from doing make-up well - the before and after - and the joy the 'after' can bring to someone, was lovely. Because how many people can say they get to do that, and get to bring joy like that to other people?

But as Rachel says in the chat, she doesn't change anyone's face, she just enhances it; so hearing people - women - say, 'I didn't realise I had cheekbones like that', or 'gosh, I had no idea that my eyes were that blue'... fills Rachel with joy.

... Because it is transformational for female confidence; and women DESPERATELY need to feel more confident about themselves. For gender-equality to be a real thing, tackling inherent female confidence issues (and the lack of), aside of men and the 'male gaze' is paramount.

Just imagine what women could do if more of them had the confidence of their male counterparts... If they had even half the confidence of their male counterparts... It would be game-changing for society as we know it.

Enjoy.
