74: Meet Lucy: An arts and crafts shop owner, AND a children's author...

Writer's picture: ChopsChops

Lucy, her mum, and even her daughter whom I met very briefly, are all amazing women. I could have spent hours and hours in their company (in fact I did threaten not to leave at the end... Bit awkward). Amazing women, raising amazing women... My kind of heaven.

Having been raised in a brilliantly creative (perhaps even 'alternative') household, by creative parents, Lucy struggled to find her 'thing' as a young adult. The working world didn't seem to offer much for her skills and interests, nor did they seem to want her; which left Lucy feeling incredibly lost and disillusioned, as she explains in the chat.

Thankfully her creative endeavours kept her moving forward and trying new things, including a vintage wedding business, which in itself led on to other things, including a book deal... which is pretty cool, right?!

And from there, Lucy went even further into the publishing world, but this time specialising in children's pictures books. Which sounds super lovely, and it was. However, it was also a period of massive highs and big lows for Lucy; which made her question herself and her talent A LOT... Putting her straight back to her disillusioned young adult life.

Lucy is brilliantly candid about feeling lost for some pretty large chunks her career; however, she's never given up, and she's never quit.

Her life and her energy are brilliantly inspiring.

Enjoy.

PS. If you can her some jingling, it's my bracelet... I clearly gesticulate a lot (who knew?), and in this case, a bit too close to my microphone.
