75: Meet Gemma: A highly experienced and highly respected TV & media producer...

When Gemma came onto my radar I was so excited. Because having worked in (and behind the scenes) of media for most of my working life, and more latterly in filming/TV/YouTube; the role of 'production' is something that had I known about when I was younger, I would 100% have pursued it as a career.

(That or a lawyer... I'd have made a great lawyer!)

The variety of it, the creativity of it, the pace of it, the sense of achievement of it... And yes, the glamorous side of media production, are right up my street. Although, as Gemma mentions, it is FAR LESS glamorous than people think. A lot of the time it's not glamorous at all!

But as we talk about in the chat, getting 'into' media production, or any similar 'back' role in media, was (when I was younger) and is still a big mystery... When it really doesn't need to be?!

What's great about Gemma's chat, is that she really emphasises the hard work and graft that has gone into getting where she is now. She had a 'can do' attitude from the start, which even at the top of the chain she still maintains; and as such her career has flown. But most importantly, she BLOODY loves what she does.

And I suspect there will be A LOT of people out there - especially young people - that would equally love to become Gemma, and pursue a role behind the scenes in media production; so I'm really keen to see what traction this pod gets on social most of all.

What Gemma and I don't discuss in the pod chat, but which her social handle below will take you to, is Gemma's more recent 'sideline', as a podcaster herself. Gemma's marriage, and in turn family life, came crashing to a end few years ago when she found out her husband was cheating on her. She is now bravely talking about what happened before, during and after, plus how she has pulled herself back together. So please do give her pod a listen.

... Maybe one day I'll go on her podcast and share the story - or at least some of it - of my recently deceased marriage. Who knows.

Enjoy.

Chops x

PS. If you can her some jingling, it's my bracelet... I clearly gesticulate a lot (who knew?), and in this case, a bit too close to my microphone.
