86: Meet Wayne: A brilliant office design and fitting business owner...

I didn't happen upon Wayne... He is one of my absolute best friend's husbands, whom I've known for about 20-years. Which made this chat particularly interesting...

... Because there's a lot I know, and a lot I don't/didn't know about Wayne.

And as I said to my best friend after, what was most interesting to me, is how much of Wayne's career has come about because of 'chance' connections/reconnections. Because even though these key moments have perhaps been chance meetings and 'bump-ins', Wayne still took the time to go up and chat to the people involved; ask some questions and find information out, as opposed to going 'Oh there's so-in-so, I'm not really in the mood, so I'll just smile and walk on'.

Which may sound like an odd comment, but it's something I believe A LOT of us do... A lot! Now more than ever.

I know I do it. And yet, what if I didn't do it, and I had approached all of my encounters with the same enthusiasm and optimism that Wayne has done? Who might I have re-connected with? What might I have learned, than in turn could have benefited me?

Connections are important! Human connection is important. And it's one of the hard values that Wayne's business, Hop, now operates on. Supporting and treating people fairly and decently. Rewarding great behaviour, great work... Great connections.

Wayne has created a place of work and a working environment that he always wanted, and he absolutely LOVES his work-life because of it.
